Healthcare Fraud

Posted Jan 23rd 2012

It’s not bad enough that our country is tops in Medicare type fraud, it seems that healthcare fraud is nipping at its heals for the top spot in con games. Healthcare fraud is emerging as a new industry, with centers in Miami, Detroit and Los Angeles. The government is fighting back, opening a special joint task force with the FBI and the Department of Human Services. What can you do to help? Be sure to keep your Medicare and healthcare numbers and accounts confidential, and check all bills you receive to make sure you actually did receive the care and services billed. If not, be sure to call your insurance company immediately, or your local Medicare office. If your bill or statement doesn’t look right, you may be a victim of fraud. Let’s be careful out there!
